![]() When I had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemo, our stovetop burners started turning on, on thier own. My two daughters both understand the value of volunteerism and commitment to thier community. Being a positive influence on my children was all I expected from Purple Heart Homes. They volunteered to mow Veterans yards, and assist in collaborated projects with the West Iredell JROTC. John and Dale Beaty (Purple Heart Homes) first made an impact with my teenagers over 10 years ago. John Gallina invited me to interview to join their Board of Directors earlier in 2022, and I'm proud to bring my experiences and efforts to the wonderful talent, vision, mission and service of Purple Heart Homes. ![]() Purple Heart Homes is a family of people with great integrity who do the right things for our service-disabled veterans because every veteran deserves a safe place to call home. I appreciated their sense of responsibility to those who had served before them and to their own generation.ĭale and John's vision and character and their ability to serve and attract others who want to serve has always amazed me. I'm a 20-years of service retired US Marine son of a medically retired, combat-wounded (3 Purple Hearts) US Marine, so when Dale told me about the PHH vision for helping service-disabled veterans of all generations in matters related to making their homes 'livable' -later the mission expanded into tiny homes and home mortgages, but not in the early days -it really got my attention. Dale (now deceased) is one of the co-founders of Purple Heart Homes along with John Gallina. I first met Dale Beatty in late April 2010. I can't say enough good things about Tammy & all the staff at Purple Heart Homes. Anyway, long story short, Purple Heart Homes installed a brand new HVAC system in my home. Within days, she called me and told me that a contractor would contact me. After filling out some paperwork, she sent 2 people out for an estimate for a new HVAC system. I somehow hooked up with Tammy Burchette at Purple Heart Homes out of Statesville, NC and she volunteered to help me. I had to spend my entire savings to have the mess cleaned up and a plumber to come and install all new PVC plumbing all the way out to the connection at the street. Here it was in the middle of summer and we were all stuck with no air conditioning and the stench of raw sewage throughout. My 2 grandkids live with me and my only income is Social Security. It flooded my HVAC ductwork and caused my insulation to fall to the ground. ![]() ![]() Earlier this year, my cast iron plumbing under the house collapsed flooding my entire crawlspace with sewage. I am a 67 y/o Marine Corps veteran who owns a 75 year old small home. ![]()
